B and B's in Lucca

anyone have a suggestion for an affordable B and B in Lucca? the listings in the book are too expensive for me and the lower end ones I checked out had bad reviews on Advisor.com and venere.com. Would like to stay close to center for less than 90 Euros a night. Any suggestions?

Although not a B & B, the Piccolo Puccini was a really nice little hotel in a fantasic location. Our family loved it, especially my teenage daughters. We, too. found the listings in the Rick Steves guides too pricey for Lucca. It was one of the friendliest, most helpful hotels during our stay in Italy.

We stayed at the Hotel Melecchi last month. It's a family run place just outside of the city walls. The rooms are large, airy and clean. It has its own parking and the room rates include breakfast. No website as far as I know but the phone number is 0583 950234. Giovanni speaks English.

Chere -

Try the Ostello San Frediano - a nice hostel. It is a converted convent in the old part of the city. It ahs very inexpensive "family" rooms with a lock on the door and a private bath - we loved it.

They have a website and the reservation process is easy.

Have fun.
