B and B's in Lake region

My husband and I are planning a trip to Northern Italy - Lake region in May. Any recommendations for agriturismos???? Thank you!

Your title asks about B&Bs, but your question is about agriturismos. Do you have to be on a farm, or are you interested in smaller towns along the lakes?

We have stayed @ both when traveling to Italy but frankly enjoy the intimacy of a smaller B & B in small villages. But, either would be acceptable if it gives us the feeling of the people and culture. We just don't care for hotels! (: Thanks Patti

Patti, In order to provide recommendations for B&B's, it would help to know which "Lake region" you're considering (there are several). I've never seen any Agriturismos near any of the lakes, but B&B's may be a possibility.

Northern Italy is a large area. Asking where should we stay is like saying, "We are going to New Jersey, so where should we stay?" Is the May you mentioned in 2011? What lakes do you want to see? How long will you be there? What are your interests? What is your specific dollar/euro budget? What sights would you like to see? Buon viaggio,

Check out Karen Brown's books on B&Bs and Inns and Itineraries. We had a wonderful tour of southern Italy following her recommendations, and she covers the lake region too.

You have not said exactly where you will be traveling, but at Lake Como I can recommend the Orange House in Varenna. They only have two rooms, so book early if you are interested. They are in Rick's Italy book. This is a B&B.

Thank you everyone for your responses. My husband bought me a few travel books so that I study the area better. I am one of those that want to see it all and need to be reined in! We enjoyed our last visit to Italy - now want to see other regions. I will check out Karen Brown - we did find awesome B & B's in Burgundy that she recommended and will check out the Orange B & B as well. Happy New Year and Happy Travels! Patti
