We are thinking of taking this tour from Venice mid May this year. Has anyone done this tour, or have any information about it or the company? My husband really wants to see the Dolomites, but the only train trips I have found include at least 2 changes and a bus. This specifics of this tour depend on weather and timing of the opening of Tre Cime di Lavaredo. So if Tre Cime di Lavaredo is not open the tour goes to a winery instead. I would hate to give up 1 of our Venice days for that. I have read that the Dolomites have not received much snow this year, and don't know if that affects the timing of the opening. Any information is appreciated!
This says that if the road to Tre Cime is not open they go to Lake Braies and San Candido instead. It also says Tre Cime usually opens the 3d week in May. I would not expect it to be earlier, even in a low snow year.

Where did you read that the substitute is a winery tour?
Tre Cime di Lavaredo are open seasonally (from late May until October) and are subject to weather conditions.
Under bad weather conditions, in case of rain or bad visibility, we offer, after the visit of Cortina a back up plan featuring the visit of a wine area, including wine tasting and including the visit ot the famous and awe-inspiring Follina abbey

The visit to the foothills of Tre Cime di Lavaredo is seasonal (end of May to October) subject to weather conditions. When it is not possible to access it, you will spend more time in Cortina instead

I would not count on the Tre Cime visit in mid-May.
Thank you for your replies! I will go back to research.
