Avis car rental drop off at Rome Termini

I have returned a rental at Termini. NEVER AGAIN! Getting there and then returning the vehicle are torturous. Make life easier and return it next to Tiburtina station instead or, better yet, return it outside the city and take the train.

This is one instance where Google Earth is very helpful. If you “walk” along Via Giolitti and look in the windows of the train station, you will see the car rental desks. From here, they will direct you to pick up the car in the parking garage at the train station.

If you “walk” along Via Marsala, at 53 you will find an entrance to the parking garage. The car rental symbol (car with a key over it) appears above the entrance. You will drive the car into the parking garage and follow the signs to drop it off.

I picked up a car (Hertz) from Termini in 2019. We did the paperwork at the rental desk at the station, then walked to the parking garage. Many car rental companies are located in the multistory garage. Luckily I didn't have to return the car there (returned at FCO, much easier!)
Beware of that garage, it is very tightly packed! Even the attendant couldn't figure out how to move a car because others were too close, he just gave up and got another car. We picked up the car around 8am on a Monday, and the first mile or so driving out of the city was pretty congested but after that the roads were easier to drive on.

We have returned our Avis rental car to the Termini location several times recently when coming from our stay in Tuscany with a few days stay in Rome afterwards. We entered the garage from the entrance on Via Giolitti, 267 with no problems and then drove up several floors to the Avis floor. We returned the car easily and then walked down to the street level to catch a taxi to our Rome apartment.

When looking at the Avis website, I see what you are seeing…
“Pickup:Via G Giolitti 26 32,
Return:Via Marsala 51 1 Piano, Rome, 00185.”
But then if you look further down the website page, it states this…
“Location Information
Return lot is at a different address than the Pickup lot. Return vehicle to: Via G Giolitti 267.
Keybox Location and Instructions
The car must be returned at the Giolitti Park garage located in Via Giolitti 267. The key box is in the Avis area at the check in cabin. Avis Budget staff is present during office hours. Open 24h.”
We have never picked up our rental car at Termini…we get it at FCO when we fly into Rome. Perhaps someone will know if there is actually a garage on Via Marsala where you pick up your rental car. But, I am fairly confident that the return is at the garage on Via Giolitti.

I've always returned at the Giolitti Park Garage. And as you can see in the image dated Aug 2022, the Avis logo is still there.

I didn't even know they had a drop off location at the Marsala Park Garage across the station. However I see that the Hertz and Thrifty and Europcar logo is no longer there (they are shown there in the May 2019 google image), so those companies must have moved away, but not Avis.

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully both are available for dropoff. I just contacted the agency we are booking our villa rental. They have an arrangement with AVIS for special rates, and they replied Via Marsala for the drop off. So I guess we will start there first.
