Does Rick Steve have an audio walking tour of the Doge's Palace? In 2009 we wanted to do the audio tour available at the palace- the price was only 5 e but they wanted to keep our passports ! We opted out of that real quick. Thanks
Sheila
I don't know about the audiotour, but for the future I leave my driver's license as ID for audiotours. Places usually just want a picture ID to guarantee that you return it. While they'll often ask for a passport (because they know that is what most tourists have), I've never had any place turn down my Drivers License.
I also use my driver's license as security when renting audio guides in Europe and have never had a problem. BTW, I use my own ear buds with the audio guides I rent. There is usually a spot where you can plug in your own ear buds and I prefer to do this as it makes it easier to hear and seems a bit more sanitary.
Leaving your passport or drivers license isn't a problem when renting an audio guide. They have thousands of people do it everyday without incident. You don't need to worry about it as it's very common practice. If there was an issue with it you'd hear about it on forums like this and TA. Donna
Take the Doge's Palace Secret Itineraries tour, it is narrated.
