I read in the Lonely Planet Rome guide book that you can meet the Pope on Wednesdays. I am taking my Folks to Italy in November and it is a life long dream of their's to see the Pope. I wrote to the Prefettura della Casa Pontificia almost 9 weeks ago to set this up and I have yet to hear back . My question is: Have any of you done this? Have you had sucess contacting the Prefettura? What is a reasonable waiting period for a reply?
Thanks
You will need to check to see if the Pope will be doing the Wednesday meetings. We were there 2 weeks ago and he was not giving audience because of the recent attempted attack. We weren't able to see the Pope as a result. Good luck!
The Churh of Santa Susanna, the American Catholic Church in Rome, can arrange for tickets: http://www.santasusanna.org/popeVatican/popeVatican.html
I've never had any probelms contacting the office and they hve always responded promptly. In this case, though, you're probably planning too far in advance--it is highly likely that the office does not yet have the Pope's schedule for that day. I'd try again in late August or early September.
