Au Pair experience. Florence or Rome? Autumn or Spring

Hello,

Next year I am planning on traveling to europe for 9 months. 6 months in Italy and three travelling. My visa only allows me to work in Italy for 6 months and I can not work for the same family for more than three months. I plan on staying in italy from April-June, traveling Croatia in July and August, and returning to italy for another three months from Mid August to Mid November. I know i would love to go to Rome and Florence, however I can not decide which order in which to go. What would be best? Florence early in the year and Rome later, or Rome early in the year and Florence later? Please help this confused student.

Thanks for you time,
Ruby

It's up to you. The weather is similar in both cities.

April: spring weather but unpredictable and changeable. Cool evenings. Rain likely at times.
May: warmer weather, rain less likely
June through Sept: hell hot, especially late June through early Sept when you will boil.
Oct: Nice but often rainy at the end.
Nov: getting coldish, especially at night. Rain likely at the beginning. Winter approaching at the end.

Do you plan to spend three months in Florence and Rome? That's great, but you can see Rome quite well in a week and Florence in about 5 days.

If you are flying out of Italy to go home, you probably want to do Florence then take the train down to Rome and fly home from there.
