I was thinking of spending 2 nights in Sorrento, (see Sorrento and Amalfi Coast). As I leave Sorrento to get to Florence, I thought get an early start, stop in Pompeii (2 hour tour) and spend the day in Naples before catching an evening train to Florence. But where do you store your bags in Naples? The museum? Maybe a 1/2-day guided-tour of Naples would allow for me to leave my bag in the tour van (not sure if such a tour exists, I'm sending and e-mail to Mondo Tours to find out)? Perhaps this Pompeii/Naples day-trip isn't feasible, due to bags, but I thought I'd try. Thanks for any help & happy travels.

The train station in Naples has a checked luggage room. We used it in May during our trip to Italy. Leave your luggage there when you arrive from Pompeii and pick it up just before you leave for Florence. Since you did not ask, I assume you know you can store luggage at Pompeii just inside the entrance.

Thanks Bob, that's great news!!!! I'll be coming from Sorrento, so I'll stop in Pompeii first. I'll head to Naples after, then catch train to Florence. I wish I was beginning in Naples and could merely leave my bags for the day, but I'll need to lug them from Pompeii to Naples. And you're right, I read you can store your bags at the station in Pompeii, so hadn't asked about that. Really happy I can do the same at the Naples station. The luggage storage at Napoli Centrale is at the end of the station, near the police office - follow signs.
