Rick said in his 2009 Italy book (the one I have handy), "If you get no response to your fax or email within 3 days, consider that a 'no.'"
I remember from 20 years ago, they were already getting very popular, and they simply got too many requests to answer them all after they're full. So, I think Rick is right - unfortunately, you should find something else (I say unfortunately, because it is indeed a nice place to stay).
Or just telephone them and speak to someone if you want to be absolutely sure.
or check your spam folder in case your spam detector popped it in there
