Are there any ATM machines inside the scavi area? If so, where are they located? Also, are there pickpockets posing as tourists inside the scavi or are we relatively safe in there[INVALID]always being alert though?

There is an ATM at the Porta Marina entrance, see this map ..... http://www.pompeiviva.it/pv/en/docs/Pompeimap.pdf ...... As to pickpockets inside the ruins. The possibility has never crossed my mind but I suppose there could be.

There are no ATMs inside that we saw. In fact, other than a bathroom and snack shop towards the north end there is no commercial development within the ruins. There could be pickpockets posing as tourist but I don't think that is a high probability given the entrance fee. And you do not have the crowded conditions that pickpockets like to work.
