So the RS book says not to use the Cassa di Risparmio della Spezia ATM in Manarola. Are there other ATMs in Manarola? We have to pay cash for our lodging in Manarola, so I'm wondering if I need to plan to get cash in another town before arrival? Thanks.
assuming the worst ( none there ), the next village is a 5 min. train or bus ride away.
I am curious which book says this? I never saw such a warning in our 2010 book (but maybe I just missed it.) We were there last summer, and used an ATM in Manarola (which seemed to be the only one in town) with no issues.
Pg 337 of RS Italy 2011. I realize the towns are close together, but the trains run only 1x/hour sometimes so that's why I was asking to plan ahead..
Why take a chance? Get your money before you get there.
Now I am REALLY curious. Does he say why not to use it? Does it run out of money? Or have there been reports of skimming or fraud at that particular ATM?
" (The ATM) is notorious for running out of euros, especially in summer. It's been know to charge users' accounts without spitting out the cash - avoid using it." RS Italy 2011
We were there in 2007, and the only town we had trouble with an ATM was Manarola. Don't take a chance get money before you get there.
