I will be traveling to Italy this week and am wondering if I will be able to find an ATM in Monterosso. Has anyone had experience with this recently?
Yes, of course. The ATMs are there for the convenience of the locals and not just the American tourist. The European like using debit and credit cards.
Thanks - I know there is usually no problem with using ATM's in Europe. I just wondered about the CT since Monterosso and Vernazza are still recovering from the floods, etc. from last October. Your response is very helpful. Dena
Dena, You shouldn't have any trouble finding an ATM (Bancomat) in Monterosso, but they may still be a bit "sparse" in Vernazza. As I recall, there was one ATM in or near the rail station. There was another one at a small Bank part way up Via Roma, but that was damaged in the floods, and I'm not sure if it's been repaired yet. As the others have mentioned, the locals will need ATM access as well, so I'm sure there are at least a couple in Monterosso. If you happen to be in Riomaggiore, there were two ATM's located right across from the station building (somewhat beside the infamous Mama Rosa Hostel. This is a question that doesn't occur here too often, so I'll be sure to take note of ATM's when I'm back there in the Fall. Happy travels!
Ken, This is very helpful. Thank you so much! Dena
