Hello, just want to confirm that if I have flown from the US to Athens (stay 2 nights where I will go thru passport control) and then travel to Rome, I will not have to go thru passport control again at FCO. It sounds like I will not, but would like confirmation. Would also think the same thing when I fly from Rome back to Athens at the end of my trip. Thank you for any help!
You go though passport at first country within Schengen zone, so none Athens to Rome, Rome to Athens. Look at list of Schengen countries, note that UK is not included.
Correct. Both Greece and Italy are in the Schengen Area, no passport control between Schengen countries.
The airline will still want to see your passport as an ID check.
See this map for all Schengen countries: https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--jIBKY6VdsY/VtisrS9x6tI/AAAAAAAAA4I/_leAxgJTLkY/s1600/schengen-countries-map-2016-03.png
Thank you both for your replies!
