Has anyone used AT&T's International Day Pass for use in Italy? Any issues? Any hidden charges? Any advice?

my son used it 2 weeks ago for Canada. 10/day. three days cost $30. No hidden fees. His surcharges and fees were a little higher then previous months but his monthly bill was higher, so that is based on the total amount of your bill.
I have used att passport the last three years while in Italy and Spain. Last year they added free texting. I was not charged for any texts I sent to a USA number or Italian number. all calls were $1 /minute. I used the hotels free wifi so never an issue. however, I did get a little internet with it. I think it was $30 for the plan.
Keep this in mind, ATT will charge you $10/day if you use your phone at all. How long are you going to be away? If 9 days that"s $90. Is the passport plan a better deal? How many calls will you make while away? Download What's app or Tango. Use your hotels free wifi and you can call for free. Both apps use wifi only. Just a thought.
