I paid for 200 messages to text my husband. Since I have an unlimited family messaging plan the AT&T person said that he can text me and it is covered by my plan but my messages will come from the 200 international messages. What do I do to my phone so that this is possible? I do not want to have all kinds of other fees...Thanks.

Just make sure your data roaming is turned off. If your unsure how to do that, you should be able to take the phone into an AT&T store and they will help you. I took my phone to the AT&T store to check this before I took it to Europe the first time because I wanted to make extra sure I was going to avoid data roaming charges. You will still be able to text and make calls. Calls will cost extra if you don't also buy an international calling plan.

Thanks. I see how to turn off data roaming. What does turning off cellular data do? Should I do that also?

Turn off CELLULARA DATA. Which turns off DATA ROAMING as well. You'll still have phone and text. With an international voice plan calls cost a buck a minute, two bucks without it.
