I am planning a trip to Asti to see the palio in September of next year. Does anyone know if it better to stay in the city itself. We can buy tickets to the race with reserved seating but there are so many activities is it too crowd or confusing to drive in from the countryside. I was told to make resrevation in the city at least 11 months in advance. Any insight would be appreciated.
