We are going to include Assissi in a trip. Any suggestions on where to stay?.... convents or monastaries?

We love the St. Anthony guest house run by English speaking nuns. It is central and charming (the rooms are not but are adequate, but the public spaces and gardens are great).

Do you only want a convent or monastery, or would a hotel suffice. I stayed at Hotel Ideale in Assisi and would absolutely recommend them. Great location, very comfortable room and wonderful staff.

St. Anthony's fills up fast, there are many hotels and other monasteries/convents as well.

Hotel Sole is comfortable, air conditioned, excellent food and family run for several generations. It's in between Santa Chiara and Piazza Commune. My group (Assisi Performing Arts) has booked the hotel completely for the past 16 years during the first 3 weeks of July - couldn't be happier.
