Can anyone make a recommendation for transportation from Assisi down to the train station? I know that there is a local bus but we will be a small group and so the simpler the better. Any ideas on the cost of taxis?

How many are in your group? The bus is super easy and very inexpensive. When we first arrived in Assisi from Rome, we (2 of us) took a taxi from the train station in the main town up to the village for about 7 euro to (about two miles). On the way out of town, we took the bus for 1 euro each. Are you staying overnight?

Hi Linda! Thanks for sharing your experiences. It at least gives me an idea of what to expect.
To answer your questions - we may be as many as 14 people and yes, we are spending two nights in Assisi.

Becky I would suggest asking your hotel what they suggest.They usually have done this before and get good prices and more important better service.
