Assisi rentals

We will be returning to Assisi for the 3rd time end of December over New Years. We always stayed at the same place but we would like to check out other rentals. Yes I can look online but I prefer personal experiences from people over the internet search. Also I am a bit confused about the heating charge. Any input thanks in advance :)

We stayed at Casa Maria for 3 nights in June. Terrific place - It was the only rental I'd ever seen that was rated a 10 on Booking.com, and after staying there I can confirm the rating.
The host has thought of virtually everything to guarantee a pleasant stay for two people, and he has a dedicated (free) parking slot for you at the bottom of the hill near the escalator.
Can't recommend it highly enough - one of the nicest places we've ever stayed on our travels.

I've bookmarked Brigolante Guest Apartments for my next Assisi trip. They've been recommended by a couple of people on this forum and they look great to me!

Am I missing something about the Brigolante apartments? They all seem to be outside of town, not what I would choose for late December when the weather could be quite iffy. Personally, I'd want to stay somewhere close to the very center, the Piazza del Comune.

Well, isn't that interesting. A Google search brings up the following entry:
"Brigolante: self-catering apartments in Assisi's town center and ..."

Another Google entry mentions "three apartments in the town center and three..."

But their website now shows only the country apartments. Pooh!

Don't give up in your quest to find a great place. Have you tried airbnb.com, vrbo.com and booking.com?

I stayed here on my one visit to Assisi. It's just off and a little uphill from Piazza del Comune.
Operated by a family, that also runs the Trattoria Pallotta restaurant (best lasagna I've ever had) which is found through the archway across the piazza from Santa Maria sopra Minerva and Torre del Popolo.

I enjoyed my few days there and would certainly consider it again (except in the height of summer, when the air conditioning is an open window)

We have stayed 3 times at Palazzo Minciotti- twice in appartamento Santa Rosa and once in appartamento San Rufino. It's at one corner of piazza San Rufino, a short distance from Piazza del Comune.

Thanks for all the input! I ended up reserving the Hotel we stayed at the last two times. Its a very nice place but pricey but my husband likes the hotel feel. I will keep in mind your tips since some of these I loved but its tough to find a spot during holiday season. But no matter we are staying its Italy :) and I cant wait! Happy Travels.
