Assisi ..parking?

If you Google "parking in Assisi," you will see there are several different options. I had done that and thought we would head to Porto Nuovo, but as we arrived in town, we just followed the "P" signs we saw. That said, it was a little tricky finding our way back to our parking garage at the end of the day. Make note of which one you are in and some landmarks to help you find your way back. The GPS signal on my phone was not strong there.

I can think of three parking areas in Assisi, but the easiest is Piazza Matteoti at the upper end of town, opposite side from the Basilica of San Francesco. I prefer it because the walk into town is downhill. The second choice is at Piazza Unita d'Italia, downhill from the Basilica, easy to use on your last day so you again are carrying luggage downhill instead of uphill.

Both have frequent bus service to points in town.

If this is a daytrip, luggage won't be a consideration.

The Mojano underground garage has an escalator a dair part of the way up into town.

Park at Piazza Matteotti. They also have an elevator that will help when you are heading back up the hill. The elevator can be accessed off of Via Galeazzo Alessi.
