We have been looking at tours of Assisi either 27 or 28 October and many are either sold out or higher than normal prices. This is for some walking tours or the excessively priced Rome-Assisi private tours (yes, there is the train, but it could be a sign of crowds). Is there anything going on then? Are these days likely to be very crowded?
Where are you coming from in Italy?
This statement mystifies me: "yes, there is the train, but it could be a sign of crowds"
There are many direct trains every day to Assisi from Florence, and several from Rome. The Assisi train station is in the flat land below the hill town, so you will need a local bus from there up to the town.
Have you tried using Google?
Do a few searches for “events in Assisi”, etc
There are almost always pilgrimages to and thru Assisi,
Sorry for not being clear on location. We're coming from Rome. The real question regarding Assisi is Are these days likely to be very crowded?
FWIW, you can buy a Rome to Assisi Centro ticket that includes train to Assisi and a bus to Centro, which is where the Basilica, etc. are located.
Google searches have not revealed anything going on in Assisi in late October. That's why I asked here.
