Storage of luggage for day trip? Isit inthe sation and is it secure?
There is a baggage deposit/left luggage at the Assisi train station which is actually down in S.M. degli Angeli (aka Lower Assisi). It's relatively secure. That said, I wouldn't leave anything expensive. You'll love Assisi. It's beautiful. BTW, this is a double post. You should delete the other one. Happy travels.
Thanks Michael. I heard from one lady that there is a magazine shop that will watch them near or at the train station. That the one in the station was unsupervised and sitting open. We will have a few valuables in the bags. Some one mentioned in a previous post that there weren't any autobuses to and from Assisi di Sud? That the taxis were expensive to get up the hill. I read somewhere else that there were buses? VWould you confirm that please. Thanks,
Greg
There are buses that run from lower to upper Assisi. The taxis are obscenely expensive. See the RS Italy book for the details. If you don't have it, buy it. It will be the smartest money you spend on your vacation. Happy travels.
Thanks so Michael, We have the book but the couple that is going with us have it at the moment. I'm just doing the Assisi leg work. We have seven hours which we want to maximize. So we're doing upper then lower. The left luggage is key. I have a backpack style nobody else does. Dinner on the train to Rome after Vino, Formagio, pane! I am counting the days. This will be first trip other than Rome airport once.
Gregorio!
Since there are four of you and time is of the essence, you might want to consider that taxi. Ask how much before you get in. Split four ways it's not so bad.
