I find that most hotels are now booked for a trip in Sept. Any suggestion for a place in Assisi near the basilica? Oscar from Roseville.

Oscar from Roseville: Hotel Sole has been the home of Assisi Performing Arts Music Festival for 20 years. It is small, comfortable and run by a very friendly family. Ask for a room with the view of the valley. It is above the Basilica San Francesco, right next to Basilica Santa Chiara. Honestly, that's where you want to be. You are just a minute's walk to the Piazza Comune, which is the center of Assisi in many ways: museums, churches, Roman ruins, amazing views and the social center of Assisi. It is not a long walk to San Francesco (longer on the way up - hey, you're on the side of a mountain!). Go one level higher and you're at the Basilica San Rufino. Assisihotelsole.com

Try Istituto Beata Angelina - a ‘convent’ right across from the Bascilica. Our room had a wonderful unobstructed view of it. I booked thru www.monasterystays.com

What are your dates?
I just did a few random date searches in Sept and see plenty of availability.
We stayed at Hotel Berti-small family owned, right at the gate/wall, quick walk to Basilica, across the street from the big underground parking, bus stop right there to take you to top of town, has AC, bkft and an elevator.
They also run a really good restaurant a few doors down.
Available on Booking.com, very very reasonable.
