How do you get to Asolo Italy if you don't have a car?
Bus but it obviously depends on where you are before you want to get to Asolo. A combination of train followed by bus may be appropriate. The nearest train station is at Cornuda. There are buses that run from Bassano del Grappa, from Treviso and from Padova.
Thank you Ron - Sometimes good transportation info is a bit lacking from other travel sources. We figured it would be a bus but were not sure of the best obtions from which to start. We will look into your suggestions.
And if you already have some lodging arranged in Italy, don't forget you can use them as another resource for these types of questions. Sometimes they're very helpful.
I posted about using Google Maps to figure out bus service on this board before. In trying to look at your situation, I'm finding that the google maps capability is (understandably) hit or miss regionally. Some small towns have the bus system well linked up, others (like Asolo) do not. I'm sure there is bus service from the closest train station, but I'm at a loss to find it.
We are coming from Soprabolzano (Bolzano) and want to drop a car off before taking the train into Venice. Asolo is the place we would like to stay overnight on the way.
If you are open to suggestions, you might just want to keep the car until Venice. Just check with your lodging in Asolo to see if they have parking or can arrange parking. Then when you leave Asolo, head to Venice and drop the car off at the airport. You could then take the bus into Venice. Current cost for the blue ATVO fly bus is 3 euro per person. It takes you to Piazzale Roma. Marco Polo airport is pretty easy to find, it's at the end of the A27. Airport drop offs dont usually add any extra charges to your rental only the pick ups do.
Ron - We have done the Venice airport bus ride, having flown in and out of the airport there several times. So this option is a consideration, since the end game on that day is to arrive in Venice.
