Art, Language, Cooking Classes

With a little less than a year to go, I am interested in securing art, language and/or cooking classes for June/July 20123. My longer stays are in Rome (5 days) Capri (5 days) and Florence (12 days). Any suggestions?

I think it is way too soon to secure reservations. Even most small hotels are not taking reservations. (See other posts here.) Take a look at Viator.com for currently available tours and other fun things to do in Italy. This will give you an idea of what kinds of things to do in June. Many more tours/activities per day will be available in June though. And other activities as well since late fall and winter are the low season for Itlay. Viator compiles many companies' day tour or activities. Bobbie

In Florence the best small group cooking class is at 'Cook Eat Italian' with Mauro or Manuela. Any language classes would be most useful taken at the beginning of (or even prior to) your trip. Generally Florence is considered the city for galleries and art classes, though I'm sure you could find something of interest in Rome.

I second the suggestion for cooking classes in Florence with Manuela - reasonably priced and Manuela is very nice. She doesn't post her lesson schedule very far in advance though. You could try emailing, but I know that even in late May of this year, she had not posted the schedule. I booked at the very last minute with her for 2 classes in June of this year. YOu could look at the British Institute in Florence for art and language classes in Florence. They post they classes reasonably well in advance. I took portions of a Renaissance art course so I can attest to their flexibility in letting you pick the number of days you want. http://www.britishinstitute.it/en/index.asp I took Italian at Scuola Toscana in Florence. They were very flexible as well but I think that the beginner classes only start every two weeks. I took private lessons with them. Interestingly, Manuela used to be a teacher of Italian at Scuola Toscana.
