My husband and I along with another couple, will be on our first trip to Italy, touring Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre and Rome from mid to late September. While we will be seeing some of the highlights of classic art in these locations, I would also love to see what present day artists are exhibiting. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
there is currently an exhibit of architecture in Venice in several locations, drawings, models, and we were in an enclosed garden with sculpture as a part of it. pretty cool.....and at least the bits we toured were free. we also encountered artists drawing on chalk on the street, and weaving toys out of palm fronds.......'just a different interpretation on contemporary art.
Calandra Arte Contemporanea - Via Discovolo, Manarola. This is the only one I visited. Via Discovolo is the "Main Street" of Manarola. Whether you start at the tunnel from the train station or somewhere in the middle of this street you walk up and the gallery is near the church of San Lorenzo.
