Arriving Milan Airport...would you go to Como or Cinque terre upon arrival?

We Arrive in Milan airport....would it be harder to go straight to Cinque Terre or less stressful to zip up to Como. Ultimately we are dipping south to cinque terre, tuscany, florence and then North from there.

IS there a fast train from Milan to get to Cinque Terre?

it would easier to get to Como it is not always a good idea to try to go everywhere.
Depending on when you arrive there is a train Milan to Monterosso (the most northern town of the Cinque Terre).
You have to look at the train schedule

There is an Intercity from Milan Centrale not a HighSpeed
Intercity train (Trenitalia Intercity) Milan-Livorno: Milan - Pavia - Tortona - Genova Piazza Principe - Genova Brignole - Santa Margherita Ligure-Portofino - Rapallo - Chiavari - Sestri Levante - Levanto - Monterosso -

Sarah,

Have you considered going to Lake Maggiore?
You could take a bus (Alibus) directly from Malpensa Airport to Stresa.

If you’ll be traveling from the U.S., I’d rather go to a nearby destination (Lake Como or Lake Maggiore) upon arrival, rather than having to travel 3-4 hours to get to CT, but that’s just what I’d do.

Where on Lake Como would you like to go? The midlake area ( Varenna, Bellagio or Menaggio) is the most popular by many here in the forum. If you want to go there, you’d have to first travel via Malpensa Express train from the airport to Milano Centrale (52 minutes), then transfer to a train heading to Varenna-Esino ( 1Hr, 3 minutes)

When is your trip taking place?

Enjoy your trip!

From June 10 there will be a new suburban rail service from MXP to Como town.
S40 suburban trains will call at Como San Giovanni station, not at Como Lago.
