Arriving in Rome from Frankfurt

Hi all, We're flying Lufthansa (Denver - Frankfurt - Rome). Will we be arriving through the customs area and passport control? Won't we do that in Frankfurt? Thanks for you help! It's been a while since I've posted here. I miss you guys and think I'll stick around again for a while!

Thanks Frank! We are being met and I wasn't sure if we'd be considered domestic EU from Frankfurt to Rome. We arrived in Naples from Munich a couple of years ago and never did see a cusoms agent anywhere... Immigration/passport control was in Munich.

It is domestic from Frankfurt. However, customs is hardly more than a walk through these days. Nothing like returning to the US.

Sally, I used that same route last year (although from Canada). As Frank mentioned, you'll go through Immigration in Frankfurt and have your Passport stamped, since that's your first entry point to the E.U. I'm assuming this is a code share flight, so you won't see your checked luggage until you arrive in Rome. Hopefully, Lufthansa has their baggage procedures better organized than they were last year. Checked luggage from my flight ended up on the carousels in a different terminal, which required passengers to go through security again to simply collect their luggage. None of the staff bothered to mention it at the time, so many in the flight were waiting at the carousels for half an hour or more. I finally asked someone and eventually learned what the situation was. The Lufthansa staff seemed to be "in the dark" also, and a bit unsure what was going on. Happy travels!
