Arriving in Milan on Easter Sunday April 20

I’ll be finishing the Village Italy tour on Sunday April 20 which also happens to be Easter. My plan is to spend 4 or 5 nights in Milan. The issue of coming in on a holiday may be a bit of a complication. I want to start seeing some things on Sunday especially considering a great many places are normally closed on Monday too.

I was thinking I could go to one of the art museums either the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana or Brera. I’ve checked on their websites and can’t find out if they’re closed on Easter or not. I know the Duomo is open for tours on Sunday but I’m assuming, surely not on Easter, right?

I’d also like to go to Mass somewhere but, if the Italians are like Americans, everyone shows up for Easter and even the smaller churches may be standing room only.

Any thoughts from old Italy hands would be appreciated.

The Brera has been open on Easter when I've been in Milan. The other I am not sure about. You can't tour a church usually when mass is going on but I can't remember what day we visited the duomo when we were there for Easter.

I’m pretty sure you can find room to attend the Easter Mass in any church, maybe even sitting down.
If you go to the website of any museum you are interested in, it will state the weekly day and the holidays in which the museum closes.

Thanks for the replies, Linda and Roberto. I have tried to get the dates from both museums websites but they wouldn’t let me go that far forward for ticketing and didn’t state anything about Easter in general information . However, I did find information about what was open and closed on Easter 2024 and, of course Linda was there in ‘23. So I think I’m guaranteed to get in one or both that day and maybe find on a church to slide into as well.

I even found 2 more museums I’d like to stop by: Museo del Novecento and Museo Poldi Pezzoli. There is so much in Milan to see!

I went to and liked all four of those museums just last month. I also really liked the Galerie d'Italia; it may have been my favorite Of course, it depends on what periods of art you prefer.

The Milan archdiocese is the number one in Catholic world for number of diocese priests; the second after Rome if you include not only local priests but also from religious orders; and in the first five in the world for number of faithfuls. If you think it will be difficult to find a catholic church, it won't happen.
