My sister and I will be arriving in Milan early evening and scheduled for an early flight the next day. We would like to spend a few hour touring Milan but also want a convenient location to take the Milan Express to the airport. Any suggestions on a good location to stay? Thank you.

If you're planning to tour the Duomo, Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele and sights in that area, then staying close to Via Dante is a good choice. You can access the Malpensa Express from that area using the Milano Cadorna station, and it's actually a bit faster than taking the same train from Milano Centrale. I'd suggest buying your tickets the day prior to travel so there are no delays on travel day, but BE SURE to validate them prior to boarding the train on the day of travel.

Hotel Garda is across the street from Berna, a few euro less. You can take the metro to the Duomo stop for your evening, then take it back to the hotel.

The first train to Malpensa leaves at 5.25 and arrives at 6.16. If that leaves you enough time at the airport, you can take the train. At that time of the morning, it's a short taxi ride from any central location, so choose a hotel that's convenient to the sights you want to visit.

It seems that hotels are cheaper near Milan centrale than cardona. Since we're arriving from Genoa do you think it's easier for a centrale location, drop off bags and then take metro to Duomo? Is it safe to take Metro at night....10 or 11 pm? Thank you.
