Arriving at MXP this Sunday (09/22)? Train Strike

If you happen to be arriving at Milan Malpensa (MXP) on Sunday, September 22nd, do note that Trenord is striking that day. This includes the Malpensa Express. They usually add extra buses to cover the loss of train service, but do expect it take longer to get into Milan (or wherever else you planned on going by train that day.)

To follow up on Eric's helpful post, we've taken one of the coach shuttles that run between Milano Centrale and Malpensa airport and thought it was just fine: clean, comfortable and safe. While they may cover the distance a little slower than the train, they're an option you need not be wary of.

We've used both the Milano Shuttle bus and the Blacklane car service and were very satisfied with their services. We always stay at the terrific Hotel Berna located about 400 meters from Stazione Centrale and would walk to the hotel after using the shuttle bus, which deposits you at the station.

We are now in our 70s and prefer the door-to-door service provided by Blacklane. Blacklane is more costly, but we now do not need to lug our luggage around to find the hotel.

If you use a car service they will be waiting for you as you exit customs holding a sign with your name on it. If you use the shuttle, turn right and head for exit 1 or 2. You can buy tickets from a kiosk inside the airport or from the bus driver. Just make sure you board the bus headed for Milano.

Buon Viaggio,
