Arriving at FLR

We will be in Florence for 3 nights to acclimate a bit from our flights before we go south on a train to a base for 3 weeks.
Just wondering about accommodations let’s say taxi distance from airport and to the train station.
Hotel or Airbnb or whatever that some travelers had fallin in love with.
We by no means will be sitting around as this is our 1st trip to Florence but just thought I would see if any experienced travelers had an opinion on this :)
Thank you if you do:)

Yes as I re-read that message it is a mess/confusing.
Just looking for places/areas travelers have stayed in Florence for a couple nights and liked.
Weed thru the 1000’s available.

Pack light, no need for a taxi. The very short walk will feel good after your flight.
Take the T2 tram from the airport to its endpoint near the train station. "Unita" is the tram stop name , but It's literally the last one on the T2 line so you can't screw it up.
Walk 3 minutes to Soggiorno Rubino.
Get a balcony room with a view of the Duomo if you can. Well worth the minimal splurge.

I like the way you’re thinking Chris, Thank You.
We just looked at Soggiorno Rubino and it appears full for the 1st week in October! Your not the only one that likes it :)

Maybe check the other hotels in that same apartment building. They are all just stacked on top of each other in various floors. They use the same elevator even.

Hotel Ester, for example

I stayed at Hotel Adler Cavalieri in 2022 for two nights.
It’s a 6-7 minute walk from the UNITA tram stop.

It was very clean, lovely staff and sort of Olde Worlde comfort.
The website makes it looks fancier than it is, but it is a nice place to stay.
Easy to walk to the centre, Duomo, etc.
I’d go back again.

You can do a search on booking.com and filter all the amenities, stars, neighborhood, and price level you wish.
The historical center of florence is the area delimited by the XIV century walls (now largely replaced by the boulevards), and is exactly 505 hectares (=less than 2 square miles) therefore anywhere inside of the historical center, you will be within walking distance from all sights and also the train station, which is inside of it. The airport is within the city limits and only 6 km (less than 4 miles) from the city center (20 min by taxi or lightrail T2 tramway).

Thank you SJ, I have just looked and it is booked that 1st week in October also.
The recommended spots look like even 8 months early isn’t enough. (Cavaliers/Ester/Rubino)
I still need to check Rubino Soggiorno building to see if other hotels within that building have an opening.
I will find something, I’m a bit of a green horn on this site but am amazed again how travelers share. Very neat, so thanks to ALL
(Last October we went to Portugal and again very helpful)

I guess I didn’t post that. October 1st thru 4th 2024
Of course this close to the train and sites ect are a little more expensive but the ones that are booked up I was researching are 240ish a night which I was good with. I have seen 78$ a night I was skeptical, the 6 to 800$ and more is too much.

Assuming you are looking for 1 room, double occupancy, the hotel I shared is under $250/night.
