We are headed to Italy in early September, for a wedding in Alfiano Natta. I have our trip all planned except our first night. We are not renting a car, just using trains. We have one night in Milan at the end of our trip (planning no stress getting to our flight while enjoying our last night/day).
So, what I am trying to decide is, where to stay our first night. We arrive at MXP at 11am and I thought about just staying in Milan that first night, and traveling to Alfianno Natta the next day for afternoon check in.
Has anyone tried ride shares in Italy, like BlaBlaCar?

Not sure there is 1 answer here. You have a full day so can choose to spend it how you prefer. The distance you need to travel is not far so really does not make much difference if you choose to spend your 1 night and day for site seeing in Milan, go to Alfianno Natta day early, go to somewhere else like Turin that is not that far out of the way or even to Lake Como which is the other direction but distances seem manageable to do if you wanted.
I would personally opt for Lake Como and spend the night there if you have not been since you may be able to see some of Milan on your last day/night.
You can get to Lake Como and all around the lake without a car.
