Arrive in Naples, Carlo first or sorrento

We will arrive in Naples at 7AM and I’m sure be jet lagged. Initial plan was to go straight to Capri for 2 nts then Sorrento for 3 nights where we will do Pompeii and amalfi coast day tour. Should we instead land, head straight to sorrento for 3 or 4 nights and then capri where we will hydrofoil to Naples with final destination of Rome. I guess the real question is being jet lagged in capri a waste and shouldn’t we wait until we get better acquainted. If we don’t start in capri should we still do 2 nights there?

Month and year? Both may be too late to book for 2024. Do you have any European trip jet lag experience? I personally think Capri is good for moving slowly. You will walk 3-5 miles for every day you have listed an excursion.

Hey there, agree with Tim, I would rather decompress on Capri. You have to work a bit to avoid the crowds, but that's the post pandemic norm in the famous locations in Italy. Stay away from Capri town, visit Anacapri, get tickets ahead to visit Villa San Micelle, https://www.villasanmichele.eu/ & get advice about where to hike from hotel, it's a beautiful island and once the day trippers are gone it will be much quieter!

There's a lot to do in Capri town.  I disagree with the suggestion to stay away from it.  In Capri town you can visit Giardini di Augusto which is a beautiful garden with great views.  You can also do these hikes (just type these names in google maps for directions):

Natural Arch
Belvedere Tragara
Faraglione di Terra
Capri Overlook
Belvedere di Punta Cannone

In Anacapri, Villa San Michelle and Monte Solaro are definitely worth it.

My hotel was in Anacapri but that was a mistake, it's better to stay in Capri town.  Much of Anacapri closes once the day trippers leave (mid-afternoon), Anacapri is a ghost town in the evening, not so for Capri town.
