It is still a domestic flight so you can go directly to the gate. An hour ten is little tight but should be OK at that time of the morning but don't be any later. I would rather be there around six.

Oh my gosh, I"m so sorry--I meant to say FCO to Chania...There is no London involved!!! Sorry...I'm mixing up my itineraries and questions...;)

No, he means within Schengen. Countries that are part of the Schengen Agreement (which include Italy and Greece) have agreed to abolish routine border checks. So, your flight is similar to a domestic flight in the US - no passport control.
As examples of the difference between EU and Schengen:
England and Ireland are part of the EU, but are not in Schengen.
Switzerland and Norway are not part of the EU, but are part of Schengen.
