Depending on where the apartment is, I think 7 would give ample time.

It depends on how you plan to get from the aiport to San Marco. A water taxi will be fastest, but very pricey (over €100); the bus to Piazzale Roma followed by a vaporetto will be cheapest (particularly if you're getting a vaporetto pass anyway); and a Alilaguna boat will be in between. I'm not sure if the actual transit time on the Alilaguna will be longer than on the bus plus the vaporetto; but for both of these, you have to wait for your transit, while a water taxi leaves right away. The Alilaguna runs once an hour. The bus to Piazzale Roma runs two or three times an hour, and the vaporetti from there to San Marco are frequent. So, if you're not taking the water taxi, I'd allow 90 to 120 minutes, just to be safe.
