Has anyone stayed in Arezzo? If so, please provide any suggestions for hotels/Airbnbs, restaurants, tours, etc. We are considering staying there for a few days between Florence and Assisi.
Can't help you with hotels, since I have a house not far from Arezzo, but here some typical Aretino food. I'm not giving you the names of expensive ones, like the award winning Osteria Grande, Octavin o Le Chiavi d'Oro (I'm too cheap for those).
L'agania
Dal Chiodo
Il Saraceno
or for some splurge:
Buca San Francesco
I'm not sure l'Agania takes reservations. There is often a line, so you might have to bite the bullet and wait..
If you are craving some Neapolitan pizza, try O'scugnizzo
I stayed at De' Montetini, a little B&B that’s very close to Piazza Grande. I was there for their jousting festival, plus it was the weekend with their antiques Sunday and ate at the first restaurant Roberto mentioned that doesn’t take reservations.
The owner of the B&B (Anna?) was very kind & gave me recommendations of where to eat (and not eat) for lunch & dinners.
Oddly we also stayed at De' Montetini and I recommend the area in the old town even if you stay somewhere else. Arezzo is an interesting blend of the new town around the train station melding into the old town heading up the hills. No lack or bars and restaurants around town so that's easy.
My only other real recommendation in town is Antica Bottega Toscana just off the lower edge of the grand piazza which a local producto tipico shop so picturesque that it looks fake but is the real deal. Cheeses packed in hay or seeds and all kinds of very local products. They also have wine and small bites as the signs outside imply.
I'd check and see of there are any events planned as the Arezzo leadership seems to keep the events calendar pretty stacked up with things going on.
Enjoy,

We stayed in a small apartment on the right on the Piazza Grande last Spring. We found the apartment on AirB&B - La Loggetta. While small the apartment was in a great location and very pleasant.
In October 2022, I stayed 2 nights at the Hotel Continentale. It was a stopover to visit Arezzo between trips to Rome and Florence. It was just a few blocks from the train station. I liked it, the room was a nice size and they had a very good breakfast. I think you can choose to include the breakfast in the room rate. There’s a rooftop terrace where you can enjoy a drink and take in the view. Staff were very nice and polite. I would stay there again. Arezzo is lovely, enjoy your stay!
I spent two nights in Arezzo in late December, 2025. I was traveling solo and stayed in a lovely, well located Airbnb in the old part of the city, but within walking distance to the train station. Enjoyed my stay and had phenomenal pastry at La Dolceteca. Many scenes from Life is Beautiful were filmed in Arezzo and the cathedral is very special.
