Arezzo Antiques Market

Does anyone have ideas or information on the antiques market that is held in Arezzo the first weekend of the month? How easy is it to navigate Arezzo? I'll be coming from Cortona (hopefully will be able to leave my bags at the convent in Cortona for the daytrip to Arezzo).

Are you traveling by car, train or bus? We rented a car in Arezzo (stayed at a B&B outside the city) and found it pretty challenging to drive around. We ended up in some Twilight Zone loop where we kept driving past the train station before finally figuring out how to get the heck out of town. :-)

Sorry I'm no help on the antiques market question.

I'll be taking the train from Cortona in the morning, spending part of the day at the antiques market and then a train to Florence for 2 nights where I will end my Italy trip.

Hi Linda,

Yes, I've been to the antiques market in Arezzo, and it is worth the trip. The town is very simple to navigate, and you can get there from Cortona in 20 min. I don't exactly know where you can obtain any information regarding the market, but if you have any general q's just let me know.

I also sent you a private message before in regards to your other post.

Enjoy your travels!

I haven't been to antiques market, but did take a day trip by train from Cortona to Arezzo. It was quite easy to do. I doubt that you will have any problem in Arezzo.

I have been to the Arezzo market and agree that it is a great thing to do. We took the train from Cortona, it was no problem at all. But, and you may already know this however, the train station is not in Cortona, it is in Camucia. We have always had a car and park at the train station but I am pretty sure there are buses that run there from Piazza Garibaldi in Cortona. Camucia is VERY near Cortona.

Sherry is correct. There is a bus from Cortona down to the Camucia train station.

Thanks Sherri and Laura... I had read about having to take a bus from the train to the heart of Cortona. I'm getting very excited about my trip..

That is a cool market - and the main piazza in Arezzo is quite interesting, at a very steep angle, with some great medieval and renaissance architecture. There are some serious antiques there - large piece of furniture, etc. as well as tons of smaller stuff. From the station you'll basically walk straight up the hill to the square - or follow everyone else!

Below is a walking map from the station to the square:

Something cool to see if you have time is the Greek Krater they have in the Archaeological museum http://bit.ly/doCFvt

Great Anthony. I appreciate the link on the ruins. I just know I find some little treasure at the antiques fair. Arezzo looks really easy to navigate.
