Areas of Florence for airbnb?

Hi there, I'm looking for insight as to neighborhoods/areas of Florence. Looking for an airbnb for 2 nights with our family and not at all familiar with the different neighborhoods of the area. We'll be doing the usual touristy things while we're there. I've seen older posts on this topic, but nothing within the last couple of years. We don't at all mind using public transportation, but would like to be within walking distance as much as possible. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

I tend to like the areas around Santa Croce, just north of the Duomo, and near Santa Maria Novella or the San Lorenzo market. But that is a personal preference (and one of budget).

I've stayed in several different places. I'd just look at what you consider walking distance and pick an area. Public transportation exists but I've never used in in Florence. Florence is much smaller and for me everything is in walking distance. I've stayed near the Duomo, near the leather market, near San Marco and across the river. I've enjoyed all and have walked everywhere.

go to
www.freemaptools.com
select 'radius around a point' feature
search for "piazza della repubblica, Florence, Italy" and zoom in.
Enter 1 km in the field for radius of the circle
Click on the map on the piazza della repubblica. A circle of 1km radius will be drawn on the map.
Any place inside the green circle is walking distance to everything and a good place to search.
The southern side of the river is probably a bit cheaper and less crowded.

Nice apartment, with a good price... Is it right next to the Mercato Centrale/San Lorenzo?

It says it's on Via della Scala.

If it's between piazza Santa Maria Novella and via Santa Caterina da Siena, it should be a quiet area (this stretch is inside the camera enforced ZTL). But between via Santa Caterina da Siena and viale Fratelli Rosselli there is traffic coming from the station (sometimes quite a bit of traffic), including some ATAF bus lines and the SITA buses. So where is this apartment exactly?

And no, it's not right next to the San Lorenzo market, although nothing is too far from wherever you are in the historical center.
