We are finishing our trip last 3 days and flying out of Milan in August. We have kids 13,10. What would be the best area to stay in. We will be taking the train to the airport on the last Day. Also we booked all airb&b on our trip.

We love staying by Milano Centrale at Hotel Berna. You can walk to and from the station and the Metro station is close, too. Great breakfast buffet. too.

I agree and if the Hotel Berna is full.... the Hotel Garda is almost directly across the street and it a bit lower in price than the Berna. This is such an excellent location for Milan. You can grab metro on the corner towards the train station and it is also walkable through the main park to get to the Duomo.

Another vote for the Hotel Berna if for one night before your flight. Unsure from your post if you are only staying in Milan the last night or 3 nights. If 3 nights I would suggest spending 2 at Lago Maggiore and the 3rd in Milan. If 3 nights in Milan, maybe something closer to the Cadorna station. Quicker trip to Malpensa, plus walking distance to Sforza Castle which might afford the children some running room. Via Dante is great for strolling and gelato, along with some shopping. And not that far on the Metro to the Duomo and Galleria Vittoria Emanuele II.
All depends upon what your family wants to do.
