What area of Rome is better to stay. We have 2 options one in the Pantheon area and one in Campo di fiori area. We want to be centrally located. Our party consists of ages 21 to 80. Thanks
The areas of Campo dei Fiori, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona are all in the same area. There's not much difference in price among the three. If you find a place with a rooftop terrace, that would be ideal for evenings with a glass of wine and a view.
Those areas are within a few minutes walking distance to each other. Pantheon is slightly more central but both are ideal in my opinion.
If that is your choices then it really doesn't make much difference. Both are very heavy tourist areas. I might opt for Camp di flori because of restaurants in the area.
As others have pointed out, they are close together and both areas are great. Do not stay "on" Campo dei Fiori, though. You want to be a street or two off. It can be very noisy.
Those are both good central areas. They are only a few minutes apart on foot. Go with the better deal at the better hotel with the better rooms (the showers will still be >>small<<) or the better breakfast. I use TripAdvisor to compare. If one of the two is the Smeraldo we liked it.
We stayed a half a block off of campo di fiori in an apartment we found on VRBO. it was great, much cheaper than a hotel and we could buy food at the market and eat in. Look for Marco 253560. It is located in a small courtyard, so quiet too. We walked everywhere.
