Are the following day trips possible?

Can anyone critique my ideas and see if the following day trips are possible?:
Can we hit Ravenna on the way from Rome to Venice (via train)?
Can we day trip from Florence to Siena and Cinque Terra (1 day trip for each)?
Also, does anyone know of any convents available for lodging in the Veneto area?

No to the day trip Ravenna from Rome to Venice. Yes to Siena from Florence. No to the Cinque Terre from Florence- this area is not a day tripper place...it needs a minimum of one night...but better with two nights to see all 5 towns.

You can do a day trip to Pisa from Florence- that is on the way to the CT, but not as far.

From Rome, a day trip to Orvieto is possible...or go to Ostia Antica for a day, but this is not on the way to Venice, it's in the opposite direction, but a fun day trip anyway.

To go to Ravenna on the way from Rome to Venice is about a 3 hour detour, added to the standard 4.5 hour train ride. It could be done if you were willing to leave Rome early and arrive late in Venice, but it would make for a long day. Routing would be Rome to Bologna to Ravenna and Ravenna to Ferrara to Venice. Cinque Terre is 3 to 3.5 hours each way from Florence. It could be done logistically as a day trip, but I think you'd completely miss the charm of the Cinque Terre by doing it that way instead of as a stop.
