Are scooters allowed on any ferries servicing Sorrento - Capri - Amalfi?

We are planning on renting the low-power "Vespa" type scooters in Sorrento to drive to Amalfi, then take a ferry (with the scooters) back to Sorrento. Is that possible? I read in another Rick Steves forum that Capri doesn't allow them. I assume some ferries carry autos? Any advice? Thanks.
