Are Lake Como towns walkable?

Just came back from Rome, Florence & Bologna. Loved the fact that didn’t need a car and could walk to EVERYWHERE (restaurants, sightseeing, shopping, etc.) - i never had to take a bus.

Thinking about staying in the Lake Como area, but would like to know if any of the towns are also walkable. I know they have ferry service from town to town, but was wondering if i will be able to walk everywhere from any hotel i use as my home base, meaning walking to all restaurants, shopping, sightseeing, etc, without having to take a bus or ferry.

Yes but inclines were prevalent in Varenna. I found that when I stayed at a friend’s rental.

Also no elevator and their place was 3 flights up. Good exercise.

Alas they sold the place and are retired in the Carmel Valley of California.

Absolutely! We found Varenna and Bellagio both to be very walkable. Both are great places to just wander about.
