Just wanted to warn people to be careful in aquaduct park. We just got mugged by two guys who pulled screwdrivers on us. We were lucky and only lost some euro. It's a beautiful park, but be cautious or try to go in a group.
Terrible. When did this happen?
It was this afternoon. I think what has been most aggravating is our attempt to report it to police. We can get by at restaurants and shops, but our Italian is not good enough to describe everything to police. The police officer outside the park gave us a dismissive wave as she kept driving when we tried to flag her down. We've attempted to talk to a half dozen officers who all refer us to someone else. Not untypical, but still frustrating. Like I said though, we were lucky overall. Just want people to be aware and cautious.
This the first case i have heard of a robbery with threat of physical violence. I know from experience that Italian police are quick to dismiss reports if you don't speak Italian or tell you it is some body else's job. But I think you need to report this. Maybe Roberto will see this and give you some expert advice. Or you could PM him.

Are you staying at a hotel? If so, perhaps someone at the front desk could help you report it.
Thanks all. We're at a B&B. I'm going to talk to the owner in the morning. Today's our last day in Europe for this trip. We tried not to let the unpleasant event spoil the entire rest of the day, so I didn't get a chance to meet up with the owner before he turned in.
