Aqueduct Park & Appian Way - Day trip

My husband and I would like to see the Aqueduct Park. Based on some suggestions in this travel forum, "Ron In Rome" was a very good source of information. We were wondering if visiting the Appian way on the same day is doable. Information on websites indicated the 118 bus is the best way. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

It can be done, it just takes a little back-tracking. The Parco degli Acquedotti will take an hour or two of your time depending on how much walking you want to do. We usually start at the Metro Giulio Agricola which is where I think Ron in Rome recommends as well. When you are done with your wandering, make your way back to the Metro at Giulio Agricola or down the line at the Subaugusta or Cinecitta' station. Take the Metro A back to San Giovanni, then make your way to the bus stop for the #360 at Magna Grecia. Take the #360 for 5 stops to the stop Epiro where you can catch the #118 to San Callisto. This will put you on the Appian Way. There are a couple of cafes on the Appian Way where you can refresh yourselves before moving on. Take water and a good map of Rome!

How busy is the Appian Way around San Callisto? We'd like to walk a bit of it after visiting the catacombs but we're travelling with children and I've heard that parts of the Appian Way can be very busy. We can't visit on a Sunday.
