apt rentals

After following various links starting w/recommendations on this site, I wound up @ greatrentals.com There don't seem to be a ton of reviews on properties and wanted to know who out there has rented from them and what their experience was. The rental will be for Rome and if it pans out, I will use them for Florence and Venice. Thanks!

I haven't heard of greatrentals.com. I've rented apartments succcessfully in Italy through vrbo.com. You might want to check them out.

I have tried vrbo and did not come up w/a good location for my time frame. Hopefully some people have, happily, used this site.

Sleepinitaly.com I have two reserved for Venice and Rome. They have been GREAT to deal with. Found out about the site on another blog a couple months ago. They have rentals in Florence, Venice and Rome. VERY responsive to emails and great website.

Terre, when we can't find what we want in VRBO we use Homelidays.com. We have used both of theses sites with great success in the EU. (BTW the awesome VRBO Rome apt , # 13150, that we rented was a little out of town, over a park and river and only cost $100Us/nite. It was on two hi-speed express bus routes into town, and was two blocks from the rail staition that we took to get to and from the airport. ) Have you also checked out the apts that Cross Pollinate has; they get lots of favorable reviews. Also check out the apartment rentals available thru the B&B assn of Rome: http://www.b-b.rm.it/ Lots of good reviews for them also. It is a real good idea to rent from a rental agency that has lots of users, and its best to rent an apt with good references. Caveat Emptor!

I just came back from Italy. I rented two great apartments from SleepinItaly.com. I agree with earlier poster, they were wonderful to work with. Don't hesitate to use this company.

I rented from SleepinItaly in 2007 and again in 2008. The apartments are what they say they are - they are fairly good with responding to e-mails and questions. Once you send the deposit, the response time seems to get a bit longer but I can't find serious fault with them.
If you want to spend a bit more but have a FANTASTIC apartment, I would highly recommend Rome Perfect. I rented from Paris Perfect and know they are absolutely wonderful. ALL costs included - no surprises - only the nicest apartments with lots of ammenities! I would trust the apartments in Rome to be the very best, also! You'll never be sorry about renting an apartment vs a hotel if you want to cook any meals and if you get a good one you'll enjoy your trip by enjoying your neighborhood "feeling". Good luck.
