Apt Recommendation in Rome

My husband and I are planning a 9 day trip to Rome (among other cities). We are planning on renting an apartment.

If you have rented an apartment during your stay in Rome and would recommend it, could you let me know the name of the apartment and booking agency you used? It would be helpful to get a few specific apartment names/suggestions to start our research.

Thanks,
Connie

Connie, we could all give recommendations, but they may not be available, not in the price range you wish or not in the area you want to stay.

Try Booking.com. Filter for price, apartments area, amenities
Then come back with what you've found.
We'll be better able to help you decide at that point

To answer Princess Pupule's questions:

Two adults traveling w/no mobility issues, small carry-on luggage
Date of travel: First week of June 2020 for 9 full days in Rome
No preference in area but would like the metro nearby with maybe no more than a 15 minutes metro ride to city center. We are not party people so we would like a quiet location.
Price range: up to 175 US dollars

Thanks, Connie

In 2017 we stayed at Boutique Grifone in the Monti area -- walked a half block from our apartment and there was the Colosseum! Close to several metro stations. Used Booking.com. This was a private room with en suite bath but shared kitchen.

Have you read a decent guidebook on Rome yet? (There's this Rick Steves guy who does pretty good ones.) That will give you a lot of information you might not think to ask. For example, your follow up post seems to imply that you think the historic center of Rome may be very large and that you need to stay outside it and take the Metro in. That's not true. The historic center is 2.5 miles east-west and 1.5 north-south. There are LOTS of quiet options within it.

Also, access to the Metro isn't as important in Rome as in Paris. Look on Google maps to see where the Metro stops are and you will see that it forms a circle around most of the historic center and doesn't go into it.

Also, start thinking in euros, not USD. For apartments, we've had good luck through Airbnb, vrbo and booking.com. Choose only places with a lot of reviews including recent ones. For a quiet area, consider the Prati neighborhood.

Happy travels.

hey connie
i've used:
booking.com, cross-pollinate.com, shortstay-apartments.com, and tripadvisor.com
it may be too early to book some places since it's more than a year from now. we stayed near the pantheon which was a great area and trastevere area which was nice also.
put in your filters of what you want (hoping for), read fine print, look carefully at pictures, a bedroom is just that, not living and dining with sofa bed. shared bathroom/kitchen?? check in early or luggage storage, read reviews. arrival and departure times (not too early not too late). lots to think and ponder about, instead of arriving and not what you wanted, makes for an "ugly" vacation.
only saying that: been there done that, was UGLY in london, learned lessons so just passing it on. any more question come back and ask. enjoy
