Hi! Four of us will be staying in Palermo, Selinunte, Agrigento, Ragusa, Siracusa and Randazzo in late April. Would love authentic, moderately-priced restaurant suggestions, as well as half-day wine tours.
Siracusa( Ortigia Is) I hope you are staying on Ortigia not in the city of Siracusa.
Dining on Ortigia Is:
Locanda delle Collegio
Regina Lucia
Sicilia in Tavola
Archimede
Marinella di Selinunte: Where you staying? ( Selinunte is the archeological site) The area has somebreal dicey parts. ? Not a particularly nice.
Ristorante Baffo’s( on waterfront)- Near the Archeological site.
Agrigento:
We ate at our hotel near The Temples as we did not feel comfortable walking around the city up above. Stayed at Colleverde Park Hotel, excellent service, helpful staff, great dining room.
Sorry, we didn’t do any wine tours. Nero d’Avola is the well known wine from the area around Taormina/Mt Etna. There are wineries on the slopes of Mt. Etna that you could visit.Winery tours from Taormina go to them.
Avoid dining in Taormina at Nero d’Avola !!!!We spent two days recovering from food poisoning we got there. We left Sicily the next day and flew to LHR to stay overnight and we became violently ill, under doctor’s care at Sofitel LHR. The hotel staff was so wonderful to us.
Hello . . . replying to the replier? I'm thinking about reserving a spot in Ortigia . . . BB Vittoria . . . hoping it's a good place. We don't drive . . appears close to the bus stop . . . Any thoughts. THANK YOU FOR THE RESTAURANT IDEAS . . Wrote them all down.
Gwen,
We rented a waterfront apt on Ortigia through Wonderful Italy. It was so hard to leave there!
Oritigia -Restaurante Retroscena
Yes! Retroscena for sure, 106 Via della Maestranza in Ortygia. Delicious food, beautiful people, and lovely decor. Dined there two nights out of four.
