We will be in Naples on April 25th. How big a deal is this holiday? Everything closed? Partying in the streets? Crowds? We accidentally hit Amsterdam this year on April 27th, Kings Day, and it was a huge party so we adjusted our plans.
Nothing. Some shops, supermarkets, brand stores and many museums are open even on boxing day and May 1: many Italians and international companies couldn't care less of April 25.
Since many Italians take some days off between April 25 and May 1, everybody working in tourism will be ready to welcome local tourists. Expect crowds on the tourists' path.
Great! Thank you for the clarification.
We have been in Italy twice on Liberation Day (once in Bologna and most recently in Salerno/Paestum), and it was nothing like being in Amsterdam on Kings Day.
I can't speak for Naples, but our plans weren't disrupted at all.
We were in Venice once on 4/25, crowds of Italians visited on this day off. Plus in Venice it is the St. Mark’s Saints Day, more crowds.
